Maurizio Magarini (M’04) received the M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in electronic engineering from the Politecnico di Milano, Milan, Italy, in 1994 and 1999, respectively. In 1994, he was granted the TELECOM Italia scholarship award for his M.Sc. Thesis. He worked as a Research Associate in the Dipartimento di Elettronica, Informazione e Bioingegneria at the Politecnico di Milano from 1999 to 2001. From 2001 to 2018, he was an Assistant Professor in Politecnico di Milano where, since June 2018, he has been an Associate Professor. From August 2008 to January 2009 he spent a sabbatical leave at Bell Labs, Alcatel-Lucent, Holmdel, NJ. His research interests are in the broad area of communication and information theory. Topics include synchronization, channel estimation, equalization and coding applied to wireless and optical communication systems. His most recent research activities have focused on molecular communications, massive MIMO, study of waveforms for 5G cellular systems, wireless sensor networks for mission critical applications, and wireless networks using unmanned aerial vehicles and high-altitude platforms. He has authored and coauthored more than 100 journal and conference papers. He was the co-recipient of two best-paper awards. Since 2017 he has been an Associate Editor of IEEE Access of Nano Communication Networks (Elsevier). In 2017 he also served as Guest Editor for IEEE Access Special Section on “Networks of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles: Wireless Communications, Applications, Control and Modelling”. He has been involved in several European and National research projects.


Prof. Luca Reggiani

Luca Reggiani received a honors degree in Electronic Engineering in 1998 and a PhD in Electronics and Communications in 2001 from the Politecnico di Milano (Italy). He had been a visiting scholar at the CMRR (Center for Magnetic Recording Research) c/o University of California, San Diego in 1999. As a consultant he has collaborated with several industries in the field of wireless communications and magnetic recording. Since 2003, he has been assistant professor at Politecnico di Milano in the telecommunications area. Since 2002 he has been teaching in courses on Signal and Transmission Theory and in courses on Wireless Communication Systems. He has joined to Italian and European research programs, especially in the field of cellular radio broadband systems and personal short range UWB (Ultra Wide Band) systems. In the Dipartimento di Elettronica ed Informazione his research interests are focused mainly in the following topics: information and communication theory (iterative codes, channel estimation, synchronization, multiple access, radio resource allocation), broadband radio systems, short range Ultra Wide Band radio systems, wireless sensor networks. His main publications and patents are in the physical layer of telecommunications and radio transmission.

Davide Scazzoli was born in Italy, in 1989. He received a M.Sc. degree in Telecommunications Engineering in the year 2016 from Politecnico di Milano defending a thesis on the implementation of Wireless Sensor Networks for avionic applications. He is currently a Ph.D. student in the field of Telecommunications Engineering at the Politecnico di Milano. His research interests are Wireless Sensor Networks, redundancy management and localization.

Stefano Moro was born in Milan in 1996 and received the Diploma in Information and Telecommunication from the I.T.I.S. G. Feltrinelli in Milan in July 2015. He received the Bachelor Degree and the Master Degree in Telecommunication Engineering both from the Politecnico of Milan respectively in 2018 and 2021. His thesis work was to develop a UAV-aided system for localizing a RF emitter in an emergency scenario, like a terrorist attack, using COTS hardware and focusing mainly on RSSI measurement for the target position estimation. He has been working since 2018 as IoT specialist for Blu Oberon srls in Milan.


M.Sc. Student Vineeth Teeda

Vineeth Teeda was born in India, in 1995 and received his Bachelor degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering in the year 2016 from JNTUK India. He received his Masters degree in Telecommunications Engineering from Politecnico di Milano in 2021. His thesis work includes establishment of secure Device to Device communication networks and develop localisation algorithms to localise the victims and the terrorists user terminals in context of a terrorist attack.

Giulio Caforio was born in Brindisi in 1995 and received the Diploma in Electronics and Telecommunication from the I.T.T. Giorgi in Brindisi in July 2014 and the Master Degree in Telecommunication Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Milan in 2019 with 110/110. His thesis work was to design a radio jamming system used to interfere with UAVs used for illegal purposes, specifically for making terrorist attacks. He has a background in computer and microcontrollers programming, electronics, electrical systems and telecommunication. He has attented two stages during his carrier: a stage in Rome powered by Telecom Italia (2013) and another one in Rimini with Assoform Confindustria (2013). He has worked as Microwave Engineer (Radio Network Engineering) for Molise, Abruzzo, Marche, Umbria in Iliad Italia S.p.A. and now he works in OpEn Fiber S.p.A. as Specialist – Lombardia Est (Network and Operations).
